Rick Riordan: ‘The Trio is Complete!’

The author of the bestselling Percy Jackson series Rick Riordan unveiled that the casting of the much-awaited Disney+ adaptation of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians is now complete.

While it has been previously disclosed that The Adam Project actor Walter Scobell will play Percy Jackson, Riordan announced through his blog the casting for Percy’s best friends: Grover Underwood and Annabeth Chase.

Aryan Simhadri is set to play Grover Underwood while Annabeth Chase will be played by Leah Sava Jeffries. Riordan wrote that the Cheaper by the Dozen and Spin actor Simhadri had him laughing out loud with his delivery and timing.

“He has a mixture of sweetness, humor and internal toughness that is perfect for our favorite satyr. Grover has some big flying shoes to fill, but Aryan is exactly the right guy for the job. He and Walker already have a great dynamic together,” Riordan said.

On the other hand, Riordan shared that Leah is exactly the way he imagined Annabeth in the books: smart, strong, and courageous, “Watching her act with Walker and Aryan, I saw Annabeth Chase come to life. As soon as you see her on the screen, you will know what I mean.”

According to Inquirer, the series’ release date has not been confirmed yet. Riordan has great involvement in the adaptation as the series’ writer, alongside Jon Steinberg. Meanwhile, James Bobin is at the helm of the project as the series’ director.

Out of Order: Bridgerton Season 3 will focus on Penelope and Colin’s love story

In the series of romance books by Julia Quinn, the third novel focuses on Benedict Bridgerton and the surprising love he finds. But things will be different in the Netflix series adaptation as the Season 3 of Bridgerton will tell the love story of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. The upcoming season seems to be skipping to storylines from book 4 of the Bridgerton series, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton.

“I really feel like it’s Colin and Penelope’s time,” new showrunner Jess Brownell told Variety. “I feel like, especially in the last season, there are these moments of tension between them where it’s like, Colin walks up to the line of almost realizing that Penelope has feelings for him but doesn’t quite get here.”

The first two seasons followed the first two novels which told the story between Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset in Season 1 while Season 2 focused on Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma’s love tale.

Now Showing: Conversations With Friends on Hulu

After the awards, nominations, and acclaims received by the Normal People TV series  in 2020, fans were stoked to find out that another Sally Rooney novel will have a book-to-screen adaptation. Finally, after months of waiting, Conversations With Friends is out!

The 12 half-hour episodes of Rooney’s first novel premiered on Hulu last May 16.

"All our lives are unfinished stories until we shuffle off ultimately," executive producer Ed Guiney said. "And there's something I think very satisfying and enriching about seeing someone's experience for a moment in time. Undoubtedly, they'll all go on to do fascinating things in some fictional universe."

The story revolves around friends and former lovers Frances and Bobbi who, having just graduated, are drawn into the adult world of glamorous writer Melissa and her actor husband Nick. While extroverts Bobbi and Melissa flirt with each other openly, introverts Nick and Frances embark on a quiet affair.

Alison Oliver plays Frances and this is her first major onscreen role. Meanwhile, well-known actor Joe Alwyn (aka Taylor Swift’s beau) is casted as Nick. Jemima Kirke and Sasha Lane play Melissa and Bobbie, respectively.
