April 20, May 4, May 18: SUMMER ART BLAST
2pm-5pm / Forum / Fully Booked High Street
Comic School Manila (http://comicschoolmanila.com) is hosting three awesome comic and manga-inspired workshops for kids, teens, and adults this summer! Each workshop is meant to inspire the storyteller within each of us. You don't have to know how to draw; just love stories!
On April 20, learn to create and draw your very own superhero or superheroine. Create a name, superpower origin, and arch nemesis! If you love The Incredibles, the Avengers, Spiderman, Batman, the X-Men, Sailormoon, etc., you'll love this class!
On May 4, We'll write our very own comic stories and share them with the world. We'll also introduce the basic concepts of storytelling: plot, protagonists, antagonists, and drama!
On May 18, We'll learn how to illustrate book covers for our favorite stories or comics. What makes a cool cover? How do we get people to read our books? Create a cover that will get readers to grab your book off the shelves.
Each workshop is three hours long and costs P600. Cost includes some art supplies, although students are requested to bring their own coloring implements (crayons, color pencils, or markers, etc). Please email email@example.com or call/text 0928-5061046 for reservations or inquiries. Studio Salimbal is a new Philippine comic studio that's just launched, and to celebrate, we'd like to talk about comics. Philippine comics, to be exact. Studio members -- including the creators behind upcoming Visprint titles Mythspace, and Tabi Po -- will be joined by other local comic creators for an informal, free-wheeling discussion about the craft, business, and future of comics in the Philippines. Nothing will be sold at the event, but there will be artists giving free sketches, and the event itself is free. So if you're a komiks aficionado, or a comics fan interested in the local scene, or someone who simply wants to learn about comics in general and the men and women behind them, please do come by. There's never been a better time. Confirmed Writers/Artists: Elbert Or, Noel Pascual, Mervin Malonzo, Tintin Pantoja, Paolo Chikiamco, Butch Mapa, Koi Carreon, Borg Sinaban, Paul Quiroga, Cristina Chua, Mico Dimagiba, Jules Gregorio.
